Micki Miller is one of four siblings, born to pastors in South Bend, Indiana. At the early age of 5 years old she began playing drums for the church Youth Choir mesmerizing audiences across the nation. With the support of her mother Diana's music background, she evolved creatively mastering piano, songwriting, singing and producing. She later started playing keyboard for her Grammy nominated brother Pastor YPJ's, popular underground gospel group FVC. Full of jazz, hip hop, gospel and soul influences, YPJ & FVC became internationally known for their special sound, coined as "Dream Music". Miller took her inspiration and teachings from FVC and decided to pursue her own music in 2013. Miller's first EP, Love Letters, covers the spectrum of love from her perspective. Whether divine or trivial Miller leaves no area of love unaddressed.
Since the 2013 release of her first EP, Micki has continued to release music showcasing her collaborations and covers, to her streaming audience. No Alcohol feat. Heyzeus (Nothing Even Matters/ Cranes In The Sky Cover) is a sultry echo the iconic duet performed by Lauryn Hill and D'Angelo describing the natural high and subsequent withdrawal experienced between lovers. Call Me (Prod By Jay D'Andre) showcases the warmth Miller's alto tone, theory, and signature style locked into the base infused street chic groove.
Additionally, Miller continues to create albums that deliver her vibe to audiences around the world. Her story line is intentional, flowing sonically, receiving rave reviews. Miller's 2016 release, Summertime Chi. received honorable mentions from Entertainment's finest including, DJ Jazzy Jeff, James Poyser & Questlove of The Roots, Ledisi, EMPIRE's own, Taraji P. Henson, and more. On August 22, 2017, Miller announced the release of her next project, IMAGINE via social media, and toured the album with drummer for Beyonce, Venzella Joy, in 2018, for The Crew Love Tour.
Since then, Micki has released 4 more projects, one being The Nightcap: Vol. 1, a collaborative mixtape with fellow South Bend native Heyzeus. In December of 2018, Micki released simulated mixtape, the door to december: chapter 1, where she pays homage to some of her favorite hip hop creatives, by sampling & remixing their verses and songs. In March of 2019, Micki started the release of a series of projects, beginning with Spring Dreams EP & THE VIBETAPE, which will be followed by three more projects.
Music has afforded Micki some amazing opportunities, including being able to travel internationally and perform for other countries. In March of 2018, Micki and her band traveled overseas for the first time to Manila, Philippines for the Malasimbo Music Festival where they shared the stage with the likes of Hiatus Kaiyote, Big Mountain, & Ruby Ibarra. Whether in Africa, London, or East Asia, Micki has stayed true to her music roots, gaining new fans all across the world. In 2017 Micki Miller was asked to be apart of The Playlist Retreat, a private camp-like experience for some of the music industry's top creatives, held at Hip Hop legend DJ Jazzy Jeff's Delaware estate. Being apart of The Playlist family, has blessed Micki to gain wisdom, inspiration, friendships, and/or collaboration opportunities, with and from the likes of Moonchild, Lord Finesse, DJ Khalil, DJ Spinna, Maimouna Youssef, Eric Roberson, Glenn Lewis, Young Guru, and more. Ultimately gaining mentorship & guidance from DJ Jazzy Jeff himself.
In 2018, the Micki Miller Ensemble was formed at prestigious music school in Boston, MA, the Berklee College of Music, where they studied her music during the 2018-19 school calendar, honoring Miller & Ariana Grande's music during a tribute concert celebrating the school meeting fundraising goals for 2019. The Micki Miller Ensemble is under the direction of Tia Fuller, Berklee professor and 2019 Grammy nominee.
Following the global pandemic, in 2021 Micki gained her first TV show placement, when her song "Beachlude (Wave)" was featured on EP. 7 of Amazon Prime's hit series Harlem. This accomplishment was later followed in 2022 by Miller having an opportunity to back Dreamville artist Ari Lennox at Coachella on organ and auxiliary keyboards. Under the musical direction of Venzella Joy, Micki was later called in to perform with Lennox again on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, giving Micki an opportunity to grow and gain even more exposure on her music journey.
In November of 2022, Micki launched her 10 year plan, Profound Entertainment Incorporated, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping, collaborating, and empowering creatives both young and old. Micki's self built creative space in South Bend, houses Profound and a state of the art rehearsal and recording studio on the west side.
Micki currently resides in her birthplace, South Bend, Indiana, where she raises her 3 daughters, Zoe, Kaitlyn, & Ayanna. With many long-term and short-term goals in mind & in play, Micki continues to "fly high", in hopes of leaving her mark in music history.
